Vancouver Island Through Your Eyes: Introducing JUSTGO Community Media

JUSTGO Community Media | Vancouver Island #VANFAM

Some of the best JUSTGO stories were never created by JUSTGO.

They came back to us...

A Westfalia parked beside the ocean. A campsite discovered somewhere along the road. Dogs riding shotgun. Kids on the beach. Campfires under the trees. Ferry crossings. Rainy mornings. Sunset pullovers. The places someone almost drove past ~ and the moments they decided were worth capturing.

Since JUSTGO began on Vancouver Island in 2017, photos, videos and stories have made their way back from travellers, friends, families, creators and people who became part of the growing JUSTGO #VANFAM.

Individually, they are snapshots of a trip.

Together, they have become something much bigger:

A living community-created record of Vancouver Island exploration.

Welcome to JUSTGO Community Media.

From Campervans to Community

JUSTGO began with campervans, but the idea was always bigger than the vehicle.

The vans created a reason to go.

Vancouver Island provided the experience.

And media allowed those experiences to travel much further than the people who originally lived them.

From the beginning, JUSTGO travellers photographed their campsites, recorded their road trips, shared their discoveries on social media and sent moments from their adventures back to the brand.

Over time, the people experiencing JUSTGO also became part of telling its story.

That distinction matters.

Because there is a difference between a brand telling people that an experience is worth having — and hundreds of real moments showing them.

The Socialgenic Factor

Long before every business was being told it needed “user-generated content,” JUSTGO was being built around something we think is even more fundamental:

Is the experience socialgenic?

Socialgenic is our way of describing an experience that naturally creates the impulse to capture and share it.

Not because somebody asked you to make content.

Because the experience itself made you reach for your camera.

A vintage Volkswagen Westfalia beside the Pacific.

A ridiculous campsite view.

The road disappearing into the rainforest.

The first glimpse of the ocean after driving across the Island.

The handwritten message on the side of a campervan.

A place your friends immediately need to know about.

Those moments have something in common:

They generate media naturally.

And when an experience consistently makes people want to photograph it, film it, talk about it and share it, the audience is no longer simply consuming the story.

They become part of creating it.

“The Experience Was Always the Media”

JUSTGO and BizBOXTV founder Lisa Ostrikoff describes that relationship as one of the ideas that has shaped the brand from the beginning:

“The experience was always the media. Give people something genuinely worth seeing, doing and feeling, and they naturally want to capture it and share it. JUSTGO was socialgenic before we ever had a word for it.”

Ostrikoff launched JUSTGO with a background in television news, video storytelling and digital media through BizBOXTV.

That media perspective influenced how JUSTGO developed from its earliest days.

The campervans were not simply transportation. They became moving characters in the story ~ photographed at beaches, campgrounds, forests, roadside stops and destinations across Vancouver Island.

But JUSTGO was never the only storyteller.

The travellers were documenting it too.

“We created a lot of media around JUSTGO, but some of the most powerful content was always what came back from the road. It showed us the experience through someone else’s eyes. Different people, different places, different adventures ~ all connected by JUSTGO.”

A Living Vancouver Island Travel Archive

Nearly a decade later, now updating this page in 2026, those moments form an extensive visual history.

Vintage campervans.

Vancouver Island campgrounds.

Beaches and forests.

Road trips and ferry crossings.

Families, couples, friends and four-legged co-pilots.

Familiar destinations and places that are harder to identify on a map.

Some photographs are polished. Others are wonderfully imperfect.

That is precisely the point.

Community media doesn’t show Vancouver Island as a campaign. It shows Vancouver Island as it was experienced.

And as the JUSTGO Media Network continues to grow, that archive has a new role.

JUSTGO Community Media brings those experiences together — connecting the brand’s history with the people who helped create it and the next generation of people getting out there.

Real People. Real Places. Real Vancouver Island.

There is an authenticity to community media that is difficult to manufacture.

A tourism photograph can show you the perfect version of a destination.

A traveller’s photograph can make you imagine yourself there.

That’s the emotional bridge we’re interested in.

See it. Want to experience it. Go.

That same cycle has repeated throughout JUSTGO’s history.

Someone goes somewhere.

They discover something.

They capture it.

They share it.

Someone else sees it.

And suddenly another adventure begins.

Experience creates media. Media creates discovery. Discovery creates experience.

That is the loop behind JUSTGO Community Media.

The JUSTGO #FAM

The JUSTGO #FAM isn’t defined by owning a particular vehicle or having taken a particular trip.

It’s the collective of travellers, creators, locals, businesses, adventurers, friends and curious people who contribute to the larger story of exploring Vancouver Island.

Some were there near the beginning.

Some will discover JUSTGO today.

Others may simply recognize the instinct behind it:

There is always something else out there worth discovering.

And increasingly, the JUSTGO community isn’t simply an audience surrounding the media.

The community is part of the media.

Vancouver Island Through Your Eyes

So we’re opening the archive wider.

Old adventures. New discoveries. Campervan memories. Local finds. Incredible campsites. Unexpected wildlife. Beaches, businesses, trails, roads, communities and those strange little Vancouver Island moments that don’t necessarily make the tourism brochures.

If it’s worth discovering, we’re interested.

Because the next chapter of JUSTGO isn’t about one person showing everyone else what’s out there.

It’s about building a network of people who do.

You’re Part of It.
