The van was never really the destination.
The beach was.
The forest was.
The campsite you had never heard of.
The road toward Tofino. The unexpected stop somewhere north of Nanaimo. The trail someone told you about five minutes before you changed the entire itinerary.
That is why it is pretty cool to see JUSTGO featured by Paddling Magazine in its guide to adventurous things to do on Vancouver Island.
Because they understood what we have always believed:
The vehicle is how you get there. The experience is the point.
JUSTGO Featured Among Vancouver Island Adventures
Paddling Magazine included JUSTGO in its guide to adventurous experiences on Vancouver Island, alongside everything from kayaking and surfing to hiking, cycling, camping and exploring the Island by RV.
Within its section on RVing on Vancouver Island, the magazine highlighted JUSTGO Campervan Rentals in Nanaimo and our fleet of classic Volkswagen campervans and four-wheel-drive Jeeps equipped with rooftop tents.
But there was another part of the feature that mattered just as much.
Paddling Magazine also recognized the local Vancouver Island knowledge behind the rentals — including recommendations around campsites and travel media and travel itineraries.
That has always been a big part of JUSTGO.
You Are Not Really Renting a Van
Technically, sure.
There is a van.
There are keys.
Eventually somebody has to return both.
But that is not what people are really coming to Vancouver Island for.
They are coming because they saw Long Beach and wondered what it would feel like to wake up near the Pacific.
They want to drive through an old-growth forest.
They want to surf in Tofino.
Hike somewhere they cannot pronounce yet.
Find a beach with nobody else on it.
Watch whales.
Drink coffee somewhere tiny.
Cook dinner outside.
Get lost — preferably only metaphorically.
And discover a version of Vancouver Island they could never experience from a list of attractions alone.
The campervan simply makes more of that possible.
Local Knowledge Changes a Vancouver Island Road Trip
There is a huge difference between knowing where Vancouver Island is and knowing how to experience it.
You can find Tofino on a map.
You can Google Victoria.
You probably already know Vancouver Island has beaches.
But some of the most memorable parts of travelling here happen between the obvious destinations.
Which route should you take?
Where should you stop?
How much time should you actually give yourself?
Which campground makes sense for the direction you are travelling?
What is worth turning around for?
Where can you slow down?
That knowledge comes from actually spending time here.
JUSTGO was built on Vancouver Island, and exploring the Island ourselves has always been part of the brand.
The more we discovered, the more we wanted other people to discover it too.
Vancouver Island Is Made for Adventure
Paddling Magazine describes Vancouver Island as a destination defined by outdoor experiences — including hiking, cycling, camping, surfing and paddling.
We would add one more:
Road tripping.
Start from Nanaimo and Vancouver Island opens in almost every direction.
Head west through Port Alberni toward Ucluelet and Tofino.
Travel north through Parksville, Qualicum Beach, the Comox Valley and Campbell River — and keep going if you have the time.
Head south toward the Cowichan Valley, Victoria, Sooke and Port Renfrew.
Or ignore the big itinerary altogether.
Choose one area.
Slow down.
Explore it properly.
There is no single correct way to experience Vancouver Island.
Adventure Was Always the Point
JUSTGO may have started with campervans.
But the idea behind it was always considerably bigger than the vehicles themselves.
It was about movement, exploration and discovery.
The vans created access.
The Island created the experience.
And the stories, photographs, videos, recommendations and travel knowledge that came from those experiences became part of JUSTGO too.
Every road trip showed us another place.
Every traveller came back with another story.
Every photograph or video made someone else want to see it for themselves.
That cycle — discover it, experience it, capture it, share it — has always been part of what JUSTGO is.
From Campervans to Vancouver Island Travel
Years later, that same philosophy continues to shape JUSTGO.
Campervans are part of the story.
So are Jeeps, RVs and motorhomes.
But so are Vancouver Island road trips, destination guides, beaches, campgrounds, itineraries, original photography, video and the thousands of pieces of travel media created while exploring the Island.
Because helping someone find a vehicle is useful.
Making them want to go somewhere is something different.
And helping them discover what is possible once they get there?
That is where things get interesting.

Then come back and start figuring out where you want to go.
Find the Road. Then See Where It Takes You.
Maybe your Vancouver Island trip starts with a campervan.
Maybe it starts with an RV or motorhome.
Maybe it starts because you saw a beach, trail, surf break or stretch of coastline somewhere online and thought:
I need to see that.
Good.
Start there.
Find it on the map.
Look at everything between here and there.
Then leave enough room in the itinerary for Vancouver Island to change your plans.
